EP 145 Hope for Those Waiting on God

In our fast-paced, instant culture, most of us really do not like waiting. And that’s particularly true when we’re waiting for direction in life, for wisdom and answers from God, isn’t it? We’re eager to get going, and anything less than getting it “right now” feels like being held back. But if we want to see the purposes and plans of God come to pass in our lives, we have to learn to live on God’s time and not our own. And that means learning to wait well. Most of the time, we think of waiting solely as something that must be endured, something we must grit our teeth to get through. And while waiting may be uncomfortable, there is a lot of growth and beauty to be found in it. Waiting on God’s direction doesn’t mean he’s silent, doesn’t mean he has left us. Even while we wait, he speaks to us—through his Word, through personal insight, and even through people and circumstances. God could download our next steps in an instant, if he chooses, but most of the time he reveals things to us little by little while we wait. And he’s growing our faith and our character in the process. So, waiting isn’t holding you back, it’s actually propelling you forward!
