Ep.147: Emotional healing after IVF, with Shiloh IVF Ministry

After IVF, the process isn't always over. For some, there is emotional trauma to unpack, physical pain to address, or spiritual questions to answer. For others, they struggle with the real concerns over what to do with remaining frozen embryos or how to tell their children they were conceived with donor egg/sperm. Where can you go when you need faith-informed support and healing? There haven't been many ministries focused on IVF healing until recently, with the creation of Shiloh IVF Ministry. This new ministry is focused on providing education and support for Christian and Catholic women who have been through IVF. Today, we interview one of their founders, Katie McMahon. NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences, but does talk about sensitive topics related to IVF. GUEST BIO: Katie and her husband have carried the cross of infertility for the duration of their 20 year marriage.  They currently have 3 living children, as well as 10 others who died in the process of in vitro fertilization.  After a deepening of faith and a conversion of thought in regards to IVF, Katie has written a few blog entries for the Catholic infertility ministry, Springs in the Desert.  She currently volunteers as a mentor for those carrying the cross of infertility with the Sisters of Hannah mentorship program through The Fruitful Hollow Catholic Infertility Resource.  She has co-founded and now hopes to offer healing, accompaniment, and discernment expertise to others who have participated in IVF through Shiloh IVF Ministry.SHOW NOTES: To connect with Shiloh IVF Ministry: Click here!Want to learn more about IVF alternatives?
