Ep 147 - Hillary Younger: Exploring Light and Wilderness in Landscape Photography
from Landscape Photography World · host Grant Swinbourne
Hilary Younger grew up pretty much alone, on a horse, in the bush...with a tendency to dream, and to become lost for hours in such things as a flower, or the wind on her face. Photography was a lure for many years, but has only been an integral part of Hilary’s life since 2007 merging with a deep love of the natural world. There is, at the bottom of it all, a deep reverence for land and life. For Hilary, landscape photography is an expression of the unique relationship of the photographer with the land. My photography is an attempt to communicate intimate moments in that relationship, which stir the emotions and touch the spirit. We explore Hilary's progress through the world of photography, starting from her introduction to landscape photography out of personal crisis to her profound journeys across the Tasmanian wilderness and international deserts. Hilary shares her transformative experiences, the risks taken to capture breathtaking shots, and the pivotal role of solitude in artistic creation along with lots more. I hope you enjoy the show!
