Betty converted in 1980, had 5 children, moved to Baltimore in 1994 and worked as copy editor for the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) for 18 years. She is the current President of the Glen Neighborhood Improvement Association and has served as president for the last 8 years.
