There’s no better time to write a book than now, but why should you write one? In this week’s episode, we continue to look at the results of the 2024 Written Word Media Survey. The results that self-publishing/Independent publishing is no longer a backup plan. It is a viable publishing route and the industry is growing. The top selling genre is romance, with 22.7% of authors claiming it as their primary genre. Fantasy comes in second at 12.8%, followed by Science Fiction at 7.5%, and Thriller close behind at 7.3%. In the higher income brackets (over $2,501 per month), certain genres such as Cozy Mystery, Paranormal, Paranormal Romance, and Romance are more prominent. These genres seem to provide more earning potential, especially in the ‘$10,001 – $20,000’ and ‘More than $20,000’ income ranges.
