Ep: 16 Eli Gold

from It's Not The Duck · host Scotti Madison

There is no better way to kick off the 2023 college football season than with the legendary Eli Gold, voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Eli is a household name in the world of sports. Whether it is Alabama Football, NASCAR, College Basketball, Minor League Baseball or Professional Hockey, Eli’s ability to tell the story, bring the listener to the event, distinguishes him as the game's best “professional describer”; a true legend in the broadcasting business. There might not be a finer person, a man who loves the fans, and whose humility has endeared him to so many eternal moments in our favorite sports. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Eli grew up simple, lost his father early in life and his Mom tried to make good for the family instilling in Eli those life skills to become the broadcaster he aspired to become at a young age.  Eli cut his teeth as a youth on the New York Yankees baseball listening to the iconic Mel Allen and today has reached the broadcasting pinnacle announcing 40 years with NASCAR and broadcasting Alabama Crimson Tide Football the past 30 years. Eli discusses his personal health battle with cancer and gives us all hope to keep fighting, don’t give in and soon you will get back in that radio booth. We will see Eli this fall continuing his dream of being the storyteller on your radio taking each of us to the fifty yard line in Southeastern Conference Football.
