Hello. Welcome to the 16th episode of We Had Caffeine Pills. Of the daily unpacking. We have a lot of energy because we took caffeine pills several hours ago so that we could try to pump out as much work as possible on our laptops.
And they just now kicked in for me. Mine have started decreasing in force. I don't know if that's a word when you talk about prescription pills. It's not prescription pills.
It's OptiMind. This is not an advertised. This is not a paid ad for OptiMind. This is not a paid ad.
I wonder if anybody would be paying for ads when we only have five listeners. Does anybody want to pay us to advertise our product on our podcast? Then hit us up in the DM because we might be interested. My mom is going to call it and be like, can you advertise that?
Your mom doesn't speak English. OK, so what did we do today? We're unpacking with you guys. We got up early today.
We got up early at like seven. Seven. Yeah, we're up early. And then we well, you were in bed for a little bit and then I went out and did some Instagram work and then I ordered us breakfast and then I came to give you breakfast on bed.
And then you say, no, no, no, I come out and eat with you. Yeah, it was so pretty outside. I love that we have a really pretty view from our porch. It's just like these little Balinese building roof thingies and then we're kind of in the middle of the jungle.
So it's a really pretty view. That's not a used one, is it? Yeah, is it OK for you? Was it already wet?
Yeah, I used it. OK, cool. And no context. And we had a really nice breakfast out on the porch and breakfast is included in the place.
So that's nice. And then what do we do? We came back in here. We started discussing a little bit because we are planning on going to Thailand and then we did our budget actually.
Yeah, to check what we can spend and stuff like that because we have been overspending. Well, it's so easy to overspend when we don't have that much, really. Well, our budget is just so low that it's really hard to stick to it. So every day we've been coming in just slightly over it by like a couple thousand rupiah.
But that's just because our budget is so stinking low that it's really hard to stick to it. But I think we're going to be fine up until the next time we're paid by Wealth. But it's still like, that's the budget. Yeah, that's already included in the budget.
We're doing our best. So then we stretched. We stretched and then worked. I spent a couple hours researching the cheapest way to get to Thailand.
We were going to stay in Bali for two months. That was our original plan. But since we're down here in the islands, it's a little bit more expensive to live than it is up on the mainland. So we think we want to get up there a little bit sooner than later.
Also, Bali, you can kind of do all of it in a month. We don't need to be here for two months to experience it. Especially when we don't have the money to explore. Right, like there's a lot of national parks and places that we want to go to.
But our daily budget pretty much just allows for us to eat. And so a lot of the stuff that we have to go see has to be free. So we kind of already seen most of that. So it's not a big deal.
We still enjoy the beauty of Bali. We still enjoy being here, but we want to get to Thailand, I think, sooner than later. Keep ready there and that's what we decided on. Yeah, so instead of being here for two months, we're only going to be here for a month and then bounce to Thailand.
So I spent a long time doing research on that. And what did you do? I made a long list of Facebook pages and blogs and websites that we will contact. That is associated with our niche, which is travel.
Yep, that's really what I did. Yeah, so hopefully we can get in contact with them and maybe get some of our content shared. That's the goal, to reach out to people that are looking, actively looking or searching for things that we are creating. Like travel videos and budget videos and all that kind of stuff.
So that's what I was doing. I think we killed the ant. Give me a minute. Ant killed.
So then we went and ate at the vegan buffet. So the vegan buffet is about 100,000 rupiah, which is what, $5? Seven. Seven?
Yeah, seven to eight. I think it's less than eight. It's probably around there. Yeah, that's probably around right.
Total. Not per person, total. And it's a little bit more expensive. But the problem is, Balinese people don't eat very much, I guess, because everywhere we go, the portion sizes are super small.
So we pay for meals that are within our budget. And then after we eat, I'm full, but you are still hungry. Like, really hungry. Because the portions are so small.
So we found this all-you-can-eat vegan place that is just slightly above our budget. But at least we feel full afterwards. And when we eat there, we don't have to eat for another five to six hours. Because if we eat, if we lunch there, we just have one meal at the end of the night.
And those are the meals that we have. We just have the bungalow or the hostel breakfast. And then for lunch, we go to the vegan place. And then we have a smaller meal right before.
Not before we go to bed, but at night. So we have three meals a day, and that keeps us going. And it is enough for me. Yeah, and the vegan place is awesome because it's really healthy, and I feel good when we eat there.
And it's all plant-based and still really delicious. And my body feels good after we eat there, so it's worth it, I think. And then we came back, did some more work on our computers. We basically just worked for the whole rest of the night.
Yeah, because we have decided to just work for the next few days now. We're not going to be exploring. We're not going to go out and do anything. Well, mostly because, one, the budget, as we said, does not allow it.
And two, there's still a fuck ton of things we need to do that we haven't done yet. So three days now, we're giving ourselves—well, four days, actually, because we counted this day. So today, we got done a lot. I got one blog done.
Our next vlog, Vlog 11, is uploading to YouTube right now. So if you're listening to this, you can probably jump over to our YouTube. In about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Upload speed is incredibly slow.
Yeah, at our hostel at this time, the Wi-Fi is pretty bad. It seems to be that the hostels around Ubud, the Wi-Fi isn't so great. When we were in Kuta and Changu, it was much better. We could upload videos super fast, but now it's about 2 hours before it uploads.
So hopefully, by the time you're listening to this, it'll be uploaded. If not, check it out soon. I made the rest of my content for Bounce Back that needs to be done for next week. And did research on the hotels in Chiang Mai, which is where we want to go to next.
Did you find anything interesting? The hotels? Yeah. So it seems like we might be living pretty similar to costs here.
So the cheapest single room I could find, that's a room that's not with a bunk bed and a cubby, was $7 a night. And that got pretty good reviews. That's cheaper than here, though. Yeah, but that was the cheapest.
So it'll be there and up. But for food-wise, it seems like we'll be spending less on food, because food seems to be cheaper. But the stay seems to be about a couple bucks less than where we are now. So in Chiang Mai.
But we don't have to be in Chiang Mai for very long, because we'll be now in an area where we can move around. And we'll be able to buy bus tickets and train tickets and get around to cheaper places if we need to. That is exciting. Yeah.
Because that, we can take a bus or a train for not even an eighth of the price of what it costs to fly from here to Chiang Mai. That's our biggest concern right now, is figuring out how to pay to fly up to the mainland. Because once we get up to the mainland of Southeast Asia, then we can take trains and buses, which are like $6 a person, from city to city and country to country, actually. I found an 11-hour train ride for $3, but that's if we sat in third class, which I imagine is probably pretty rough for 11 hours.
So where was I? Oh, yeah, 11 hours. So, yeah, once we get up to the mainland, it'll be easier. It's a flight up to Chiang Mai.
The cheapest I can find for two people is $213. And that eats into, like, a lot of days of our budget. A lot. A lot of days.
But what we just have to think about is the fact that it's just like, maybe, two or three weeks of the budget. But that is still going to make us be able to survive for another, you know, up to five months from the moment that we got here. Which means that we have up until from the moment that we leave to Chiang Mai, until our money runs out, to figure out
