Florida Assistant States attorney Stacey Honowitz and I talk importance of talking to your kids about even the difficult-cringy stuff-embarrassing stuff! Ms. Honowitz is thirty-five (35) year veteran of the Broward State Attorney’s Office specializing in the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit. She is responsible for investigating, filing andprosecuting all cases involving child molestation, child and adult sexual battery, and all cases of physical abuse, child neglect and child endangerment. She has successfully prosecuted and handled high profile cases in Southern Florida, some of which involved coaches, teachers, teaching assistants and physicians. One of her most famous cases involved a gymnastics coach which was instrumental in leading to the prosecution of Dr. Larry Nassar who was convicted of sexual abuse against some elite Olympic gymnasts. Outside of the courtroom Stacey lectures to schools, organizations , parents’ groups and has served on several panels addressing sexual abuse with kids, navigating the criminal justice system, and how to talk to your kids about sexual abuse and reporting.
