Having explained the three kinds of knowledge, Shri Krishna now describes the three kinds of action. Now we come to the topic of karma, the action itself. Knowledge is the main instigator of any action. So if the knowledge is sattvic, the action will be sattvic, and so on.  (Verse 23) Shri Krishna declares, that action in the mode of goodness is doing one’s duty in accordance with the scriptures. He further adds that such work should be without attachment or aversion, and without the desire to enjoy the results.  (Verse 24) Action performed with a longing for its fruit and with the egotistic feeling of personal agency is Rajasic action.
