Ep 166 Trust Your Training — Stop Trying to Control Everything

from Today Matters Podcast With Steve Pinkston · host Steve Pinkston

Trying to control every movement and outcome creates tension and destroys flow. This episode teaches athletes how to trust their preparation, release control, and perform instinctively when it matters most. Today’s Action Step:  1️⃣ Before competition, say: “I trust my training.”   “I trust my preparation.”   “My body knows what to do.” Repeat it until you believe it. 2️⃣ Release physical tension When pressure rises: Relax your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Loosen your hands. Tension blocks flow. Relaxation restores rhythm. 3️⃣ Focus on rhythm, not mechanics Instead of thinking: “elbow in”    “step here”    “rotate there” Focus on rhythm cues like:  smooth, tempo, flow, quick, easy Rhythm restores instinct.
