Ep. 17: Maggie Perkins: Learning Healthy Living at the Poe Center
from A Fit & Able Life · host Fit & Able Productions
The Poe Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting the lives of North Carolina youth through health education. Since opening in Raleigh in 1991, the Poe Center has educated more than 850,000 participants from 76 counties using innovative teaching theaters, exhibits and offsite programs. By engaging in fun, highly interactive lessons, preschoolers through twelfth graders receive information that follows the NC DPI Essential Standards for Healthful Living Education on a variety of health topics, including nutrition, dental health, general health, family life and drug prevention. Maggie Perkins is a Registered Dietitian with a focus in health promotion and family wellness. She has been a Health Educator with the Poe Center for over three years and enjoys empowering youth to live healthfully. If Maggie is not at Poe, you will most likely find her studying to receive a Master's in Nutrition from East Carolina University and volunteering in the community.
