EP 170: Constriction Leads To Expansion

In today's episode of Jumpstart with Jeff, Dr. Buske shares an about a recent trip to Austin, Tx to spend time with one of his mentors. While there, they experienced a sauna, cold plunge, and hot plunge to improve body circulation. Dr. Buske was amazed at the power of constriction and expansion.  When he first dropped into the cold plunge, it took him a few seconds to catch his breath. The sensation was like pins and needles all over his body. But when he jumped into the hot plunge, it felt like a warm, fluffy blanket. The experience made him realize that in our society, we are so used to avoiding pain that we get complacent. We tell ourselves that “it is what it is” and don’t push ourselves to grow. But when we embrace pain and constrict our lives, we open ourselves up to a world of expansion. On the other side of pain is growth and development. Dr. Buske was reminded how pain can help create growth and expansion. He suggests that instead of avoiding pain, it is important to recognize it as an opportunity for growth and development. He encourages others to be open to the idea that constriction leads to expansion, in order to reach their fullest potential.
