Ep 175: Podside Chat - How To Be Compassionate Even When People Suck

from The Jim Fortin Podcast · host Jim Fortin

Start Your Transformation Now We’ve all been there. Someone does something nasty to us and some part of us feels compelled to do the same, to react, to toss stones back. And, in truth, one of the most powerful things we can do is “evolve” evolve out of that and be compassionate. I remember many years ago hearing Wayne Dyer say, “would you rather be right or be kind?” That’s a huge statement because most of us are more concerned with being right, even if we have to be “mean” to make ourselves right. In this episode, I discuss the role of compassion in our evolution to rap “open-heartedness.” How open-hearted do you think you are? I’m not talking about being nice when you want to and being a “good person.” I’m talking, how open-hearted are you with people when they are hating on you, judging, criticizing, and such? Realize this, if angry, hateful, judgmental people….even family who does this…if you allow them to do it and you judge and throw anger back at them, you’ll spend your life doing this until you master compassion. And, if you do that, they are controlling you! I’m still on the path to mastering this and in this episode, I share my journey to compassion and open-heartedness and perhaps some of it will resonate with you. There is a lot I say in this week’s episode and here is a premise I request you explore: When others hate on you or throw anger at you, they are not telling you who you are, they are telling you who they are. The key, which I address in this episode, is to “polish yourself” so all the hate, judgment, and anger of others “slides” right off you. Transformational Takeaway: I am not who you think I am, you are who you think I am. Listen to this episode and explore how you can expand this open heartedness in your own life.
