Ep. 18 The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and Night Marchers

from Oy with the Terror Podcast · host Oy with the Terror Podcast

It's episode 18! Danielle discusses the triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in Manhattan, New York City on March 25, 1911. It is considered the deadliest industrial disaster in New York City and one of the deadliest in the United States. 146 workers, mostly young women died from the fire, jumping to their deaths, and smoke inhalation. Most of the victims were Jewish and Italian immigrants working in dire conditions. Just a year earlier there was a strike where women advocated for higher pay. This week Sandra talks about Night Marchers. According to Hawaiian legend, Night Marchers are ghosts of ancient warriors. They supposedly traipse through large sections of the island chain and can be seen carrying torches and marching through the night. If you were to make eye contact with the one you will be forced to walk among them for eternity. Unless a relative is already taken by them that can claim you so they leave you alone.
