Ep. 18: What the Mom of an Epileptic Child Wants You to Know

from Your Mom™ · host AA Media LLC

Sarah Thompson lives every moment on high alert. Such is the reality of a parent raising a child with epilepsy. Her son Bryson was diagnosed as a drug-resistant epileptic six years ago, and despite suffering near daily seizures, his diagnosis has not defined him. During National Epilepsy Awareness Month, Sarah joins the show to discuss the mental and physical toll epilepsy takes on a family and what she wishes everyone knew about the brain disorder that impacts over 3 million people in the United States. Ashley shares her personal experience with epilepsy and why she felt connected to the Thompson family from the moment she met Sarah. In addition to raising Bryson and his three siblings, Sarah is also a second mom to an entire college football team. The wife of the Cal running backs coach, and the daughter of an NFL star offensive lineman, Sarah uncovers she and Lisa share many common threads. The Pac-12 Network feature referenced in the interview can be found here. To learn more about the non-profit Bryson and his older brother Brock started, please visit Helmets4Helmets.com.
