Ep# 188: [Pep Talk] College isn’t the End Destination

Today’s episode is short and sweet, but really important for me to share:   College is not the end goal for our kids.   The cultural norm says that it should be. For the past couple of decades in our country, it has been a given that in order to be “successful” as an adult, you will probably have to go to college.   When I was growing up, that was definitely my trajectory. My parents valued higher education, so there were really no other options on the table for me. The question wasn’t if I would go to college, but where.   I wasn’t bothered by it or pressured by it, it just was. That’s just what everyone was doing. College was the default.   College is where so many of us go, or went, because we thought we need to in order to be of value in our society. But this is actually so far from the truth today.
