Fredericksburg has a lot going on, but too many of the best events and community stories are hidden behind scattered social posts and word of mouth. We wanted to know what it looks like when someone decides to fix that problem for good, so we sat down with Twana James, the founder and program director of Black Fredericksburg Radio. What began as a simple idea for a centralized community calendar grew into something much bigger: a 24 hour internet radio station designed to spotlight Black culture, creativity, and the people shaping life across the Fredericksburg area.We talk about Twana’s journey in broadcasting, starting as a kid reporter, learning to find her voice, and building a career that includes military broadcasting before she stepped away to raise her family.
