Ep. 19| How to Avoid Toxic Work Culture

from Chop't Up Podcast Hosted by Karmisha Superville

Millions of people face abusive supervisors and bullies at work. These employees are targets of ridicule, threats, or demeaning comments by their manager on a daily basis, which results in decreased satisfaction, productivity, and commitment to the job as well as the organization at large. While direct interactions with “bad bosses” can be traumatic for employees, the problem often goes further than a single individual. In this episode, we chop it up with HR Generalist/Founder Akida Gray on how to dismantle toxic workplaces and thrive as an employee post-Covid. Guest Speaker; Akida Gray Akida is a leadership, character development, and relationship coach as well as co-owner of Elite Vision Builders business consultants. With over 20 years of call center experience and 15 years of management experience, Akida has worked with teams of 30 employees or more from well-established companies to start-ups; he even became the first African American in senior leadership within an organization he was a part of. He graduated from Kean University with his BA in communications. He also holds certificates in HR Management and Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University. Currently, Akida advises professionals on ways to enhance their competitive edge through continuing education programs. As a black man who has experienced disengagement, toxic cultures, and microaggressions Akida remains passionate about educating organizations about Diversity, Inclusion, and engagement.
