Starlight Thursdays Episode 193 welcome kaPOWski to the series!! They pack quite the punch both as a DJ and as a artist. How long have you been DJing?  I got into this during the pandemic, after years of making playlists and collecting music. Where do you live?  Bozeman, MT Where are you from originally? Portland, OR Why did you get into it? I have a traditional music background and work professionally in the event production field, so I already spend a lot of time in the areas where music and community and party overlap. I met a new friend at a small private festival who volunteered to teach me how to use the software and equipment, and I was HOOKED! What events have you played? I played several sets at Burning Man in 2022 and 2023, as well as playing at some smaller regional burn events. I love playing private/community parties. And I just played at the Rialto in Bozeman in December. What inspires you to DJ?  Being the beating heart of a party and a vibe. Not in a way that is driven by ego - honestly if I completely blend into the background of an excellent experience for others, I’ve done it right. What genres are in your mix?  House and disco are my heart home. Techno is my sexy lover. Breakbeat is the cool kid that I’m still getting up the nerve to talk to. Can you tell us about your mix?   This was a fun practice sesh I did at home that I just happened to hit record on, and it gelled together in a beautiful way - I feel like this is a pretty succinct representation of my DJ viewpoint.
