Korfball is a mixed gender sport that originates from the Netherlands, that is similar to both netball and basketball. It's an invasion game that is eight-a-side, with four women and four men on each team. Korfball has been around for over a 100 years, having started in 1902, and is now played all over the world. In this series Tao MacLeod finds out a bit more about the sport, from those involved. Jack Pitt is originally from Bristol. He moved to Scotland in 2019 in order to study at the University of Edinburgh. It was here that Jack took up the sport of korfball by joining the student team, where he also helped out with refereeing and coaching. Then, in the spring of 2020, Jack joined the Scotland Korfball Association management committee as the Public Relations Officer. Kashif (Kash) Irshad moved to Edinburgh when he was eight years old, having been born in Newcastle. He got into korfball whilst studying at the University of Edinburgh and has gone onto become a referee and a coach, before getting involved at Edinburgh City Korfball Club. Kash is now on the management committee of the Scotland Korfball Association as the Development Officer.
