Wally Samuel is a member of the Ahousaht First Nation which is a part of the Nuu-chah-nulth community located off the west coast of Vancouver Island in B.C. on Flores Island. He was born and raised in Ahousaht and spent his childhood on a fishing boat as his father was a commercial fisherman. He has worked for over 30 years in community development and public service, having worked for several organizations in various management capacities. Drawing on his expertise in building and maintaining partnerships, he has worked with a number of public community boards and committees. Wally is a residential school survivor.
