The type three Variant & Sedan (Squareback & Notchback) was the car that was debuted at the 1961 Frankfurt auto show in order to develop a new upgrade level vehicle for people that wanted to upgrade from the Beetle. In the early years of the type three there were a lot of one year only and earlier only design attributes. In this podcast we break down all of the early details that are known to be on 63 & earlier type three's. Today on the registry only 75 early pre-1963 & earlier type threes are registered. Maybe the type three is the hidden gem of rarity that not a lot of people know about.
