EP 22: JIM JONES THE KOOL-AID MAN + THE GREAT ENRON SCANDAL

from Crimespiracy · host Quintin Newman & Shellaine Wendling

Today, Shelliane talks about Jim Jones. He is most well known for the phrase "drink the Kool-Aid". Jones was an American religious leader that lured people into his cult by faking miracles. For example, he would plant people in his congregation and prepend to cure their cancer. He eventually took his entire following from the U.S. to Jamestown, a small settlement in Guyana. He forced them only to eat PB+J and drink Kool-Aid. Eventually, his paranoia caused him to commit suicide and convince his followers to drink poisoned Kool-Aid.  Next, Quintin gives us the scoop on the great Enron Scandal of the 90s-00s. Enron started as a merger between two natural gas companies in the 90s, but it eventually became much more. Through cooking their books and moving liabilities to subsidiaries, Enron moved itself to the most profitable company at the time. Not many people know the true story of Enron; learn more in this episode of Crimespiracy.  .:Socials:. www.Crimespiracy.com Youtube: Crimespiracy Twitter: @Crimespiracies Facebook: Crimespiracy Instagram: @crimespiracypod
