from Real, Brave & Unstoppable

Send us Fan MailAs a mom, I know I've thrown myself into my job to the point where I have no time for myself at times.  I know it's a common thing!  In today's episode, I talk with Kayleen Johnson, who grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in a very conservative farming community.  Growing up, she was taught that her sole purpose in life was to be a wife and a mother.Kayleen reached a point in her life where she struggled with this idea of having no worth outside of her roles.  She felt out of alignment because it wasn't her truth to hide her gifts and all she has to offer from the world. In 2016 Kayleen went through a life-threatening illness and it was a catalyst for her to start questioning - the limiting beliefs she had been taught, the identity she was told she should have, even her faith.  She found the strength to get through that ordeal and find that she did have worth not only outside of being a mom and a wife but in addition to.Kayleen was always taught that feminism was bad, but after she recovered from her illness, she began reading books written by women and discovered that she had a good bit of feminism in her! She started to explore outside of the world she had been living for so long. Kayleen is the host of a podcast called Scars we Share.  She asks her guests three questions: 1) what is an external scar they have, 2) what is an internal scar they have that they're willing to talk about and 3) how they overcame that experience.  She is also the author of The Empress Journal: A Journal Positively for Women, a 13-week journal for practicing gratitude, affirmations, and setting and reaching goals.  You can download a free pdf that contains the first 4 weeks of the journal here:EMPRESS JOURNAL PDF DOWNLOADAbout Kayleen:Kayleen has a passion for people.
