Ep. 229: Enemy at the Gates

Zo is in the wrong place at the wrong time: in the midst of Russia during an intense moment in World War II or, as the Russians would come to call it: The Great Patriotic War. In a city once known as Stalingrad on the banks of the Volga river the fighting has intensified as Russian civilian fighters and the Soviet Red Army desperately defend their country against the onslaught of the German Nazi war machine. Zo as well as the rest of the citizenry experience their morality weakening day by day, but gradually news of hope appears as a light at the end of a long dark tunnel. People begin to talk about an amazing sniper named Vasily Zaitsev picking off Germans as easily as a child might break sticks. The exploits of Zaitsev bolsters both the citizens of Stalingrad and the hearts of the Red Soldiers and they fight on.
