Ep 229: How Pets Help Kids and Process Loss with Dr. David Edwards

from Raising Boys & Girls · host That Sounds Fun Network

One of our favorite comments—whether in counseling or on the road is when we meet folks who tell us that we’re the reason they got a dog (unless they got a bad dog…and then we’d maybe rather not hear about that! 😉) But it has happened more times than we can count because—you all know—we believe so strongly in the power of pets in the lives of kids. We cannot count how many times we’ve had kids say, when they’re struggling, that the “person” they talk to the most is their dog. So, for all of you who blame or credit us for having a pet…or those of you who are considering a pet for the holidays…we thought we’d introduce you to our dear friend, David Edwards. David is the owner of Belle Meade Animal Hospital and one of our favorite people! He shares so much wisdom around not only the importance of pets but how we grieve a pet as a family. We can’t wait for you to listen in on this wonderful episode with Patches and June’s hero, David Edwards.  In you loved this episode, go back to Ep. 46: Helping Kids Face Hard Things with Hope and Gratitude with Jay and Katherine Wolf. . . . . .
