Fact check: There is a viral claim that senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan "suggested seizing the gold reserves lying with Hindu temples in the country." Along with the social media users, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra and Shina NC also made similar claims at various platforms.Lallantop’s Fact check team analyzed this claim and found that Prithviraj Chavan didn't ask for the seizure of gold lying with the Hindu temples. In his tweet and statement, he mentioned that Modi govt should borrow this gold on low interests from all the religious trusts in India.We also spoke to the Assistant Nazim of Ajmer Sharif dargah, Ajmer- Dr. Mohammad Adil, and Syro-Malabar church, Kocchi's spokesperson Father Anthony to know more about the donation pattern in these trusts.
