Ep. 23 - S - John 20:19-31 What is in the way of your faith?

from St. Peter's Helenville · host Pastor Titus

S = Sermon The week after Easter, we read and remember the week after that first Easter. What were the disciples doing? They were hiding behind locked doors. They were processing everything that had happened. They were struggling to believe, to apply, to live the truth of Jesus' death and resurrection. Thomas, especially, was struggling a week later because he had not been with the disciples a week ago when Jesus first appeared to the rest of them behind those locked doors. But this week, he was there. He said he wouldn't believe unless he put his fingers in the holes of Jesus' nail marked hands and put his side into the cut open side of Jesus' spear wound. And yet, when Jesus appeared he fell down on the ground and worshipped. What stands in the way of you believing in what you have heard in the Bible? What stands in the way for you to put your trust in Jesus? Is it really about evidence or is it more about your trauma, your doubt, and your fear? How does God call you to believe as Jesus called Thomas to stop doubting and believe? This sermon was first delivered on April 7, 2024.
