Ep. 24: Leslie Covington: Good Health is a Never-ending Journey
from A Fit & Able Life · host Fit & Able Productions
Leslie Covington is the new Executive Director of the Carying Place, a Cary-based nonprofit organization. Leslie obtained her Social Work degree at North Carolina State University and further developed a love for outreach through her local church. Inspired with empowering at-risk and low income families, she continued her experience through her service as a Youth Director, Director of Outreach, and Senior Youth Director for the YMCA of the Triangle. Leslie soon felt the need "to go deeper" with serving families and returned to NCSU for her Master of Social Work degree where she focused on mental health, clinical social work, and substance abuse counseling. However, while striving to serve the needs of other, Leslie discovered she was not serving her own needs. Fortunately, she had the resolve to make the change and was open with us about how she is doing it. One of the secrets to Leslie's success is her use of little strategies that keep moving her forward. No one, big thing is doing all the work. She's just doing all those little things we all know we need to do. Through her faith, support of friends and family, and just simply her own determination to take back control of her health, Leslie has made incredible process. And the journey continues.
