SISU as a character trait! You will stay the course even when it gets hard, you will constantly work through difficulties and will keep going when many others will have quit. Grit, the meaning is to have courage and resolve; strength of character.Sisu (a Finnish word) Technically pronounced "See Soo" the oo = "oh" Translated to English is having stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience, hardiness, determination, guts, and courage. It is an action oriented mindset that can be applied to anyone's life. It is a word that resonates deeply with the Finnish mentality and captures an important aspect of their national identity. One can try to translate it with words like "grit" or "tenacity", but the cultural and emotional depth of "sisu" is difficult to fully grasp in other languages. If you have GRIT, "SISU" then you will surely succeed. You will work through your roadblocks and challenges albeit it may be slow going at times but you will move forward no matter what! This my friends is what will create success in your life! You'll take action and pivot how ever many times is necessary but always, always, moving forward even if it is a crawl. Eventually the hard work and tenacity will pay off. Stay the course my friend! I dedicate this episode to my dad and his significant other Kathleen who passed away this past summer. My dad turns "80" in December of this year and has been battling Cancer for many years. He is a tough Norwegian and she was a tough Finn! They both truly had SISU!
