Dr. Jan Carney is the MPH Program Director, Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy and Professor of Medicine at the Learner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Carney earned her BA from Middlebury college, her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventative Medicine. She is a researcher and an educator who has served as Vermont's Commissioner of Health under three gubernatorial administrations, championing improvements in children's health insurance, preventing teen smoking, improving cancer screening, and has received numerous awards from her time there.
