After the shipwreck, Paul reached the island of Malta where he miraculously survived a deadly viper bite. He then healed Publius's father and many other sick people, gaining great honor and provision. Following a three-month winter stay, he sailed to Puteoli, where he was greatly encouraged by local believers before continuing to Rome. Upon arrival, Paul was placed under house arrest.
