EP 258 - Understanding Hypothyroidism Stop Being Misdiagnosed

from The Dr. Ward Bond Show · host The Whitfield Media Group, Inc.

Women with untreated hypothyroidism are more than twice as likely to have a heart attack. Six percent of miscarriages are associated with hypothyroidism. Children born to hypothyroid mothers have a lower IQ (by an average of 7 points). They are almost four times as likely to have an IQ under 85, and more than twice as likely to have learning difficulties.   Hypothyroidism contributes to millions being unnecessarily disabled. More than 6 million Americans have fibromyalgia and tens of millions more have chronic muscle pain. Undiagnosed or inadequately treated thyroid disorders contribute to these unnecessarily disabling conditions.   Americans are currently treating hypothyroidism, which is often confused as being depression. This is an even bigger problem in the elderly who are being misdiagnosed with depression or Alzheimer's disease when what they have is hypothyroidism.   Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum is with us today and he is a board certified internist and nationally known expert in the fields of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, sleep and pain. He has authored numerous books including the best-selling From Fatigued to Fantastic!. He is the lead author of numerous studies on effective treatment for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and one study on effective treatment of autism using NAET. He also developed the very popular free smartphone app "Cures A-Z.” www.vitality101.com
