Ep 263 - The Art of Landscape Photography with Joe Cornish

from Landscape Photography World · host Grant Swinbourne

Joe Cornish has been photographing landscapes professionally since the early 1980s, and few people in the UK have thought more carefully or more deeply about what landscape photography actually is.   With an art school background and early influences including Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, Joe has always approached the landscape as an expressive art form rather than simple documentation. That philosophy runs through dozens of books, National Trust commissions, artist in residence projects at Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks, and a career that earned him an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society.   In this episode Joe talks about cultivating curiosity and visual literacy as foundations for better photography, the value of collaboration and peer learning, and why he finds the craft of editing and printing as creatively satisfying as being out in the field. He also reflects on landscape photography's relationship to environmental change and the role images can play in helping people value the natural world.   I hope you enjoy the show!   You can find Joe’s work here: Website: https://joecornish.co.uk/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joecornishlandscape   Listen to this and other episodes wherever you find your podcasts or on https://grantswinbournephotography.com/lpw-podcast Or subscribe to my YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@grantswinbournephotography   Theme music: Liturgy Of The Street by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com #landscapephotography #ukphotographer #northyorkshire #finartphotography #naturephotography #photographyeducation #environmentalphotography #photographypodcast
