EP 27: The Cicada 3301 Mystery

This week, Rob and the boys discuss the mysterious timeline of Cicada 3301, a secretive group behind a series of internet puzzles and complex ciphers which  bled into the real world.  Beginning with an anonymous post on 4chan, the Cicada 3301 organisation created a complicated series of internet puzzles with an unknown purpose between 2012 and 2014. Ordering participants not to share any details, many of whom have since vanished from the internet, the origins of Cicada 3301 have been suggested as being a secret society, government organisations or an extremely dedicated network of neckbeards.  Whoever they are, they have left behind a complex trail of clues hidden within internet scripts, codes, images and real world locations. With the third and final puzzle yet to be solved, nothing has been heard from Cicada 3301 since 2017, who continue to frustrate, allure and intrigue.  We also discuss other examples of ciphers and puzzles, including the Zodiac Killer, and the FBI monolith.
