This foundation is strengthened by a coach who models the desired behavior; you cannot demand selflessness and composure if you are selfish and erratic on the sidelines. Trust and connection are the glue that holds a positive team together when things go wrong. You must actively engineer opportunities for players to bond beyond the court. This can be as simple as "team meals" or as structured as "partner interviews" where teammates share their life stories to build empathy.
