from Project Archivist · host Roejen

This week, Kevin Oliver is with us to take an extensive look into the world of books bound in human skin. We cover what the process is called, when did it start, is it legal, where the skin came from and some of the more popular books that are known. For over 20 years Kevin has owned Signature Bindery of Lincoln Nebraska. Signature Bindery specializes in restoration and period binding of old and rare books, with a special emphasis on those from the 15th – 18th centuries and is familiar with binding books of exotic hides.
