Ep. 29 Recognizing a need and finding a strength. With Dave Cressman

from Community Trail Running · host Adam Lee

“I'm fortunate to have great staff and we all use the stuff. If we use it and we like it and it works, we can sell it. It's not rocket science, right?” - Dave CressmanDistance Runwear has been operating for over 11 years now. Located in Vancouver, and North Vancouver, BC, as well as online, Dave and Meghan Cressman, started the shop when they recognized an opportunity to differentiate their running shop from the others. They didn’t need to be bigger to be better, in fact, just the opposite. The reason they’ve found success is they sell what they know. “That's partly why we've stayed small, is it enables us, or forces us really to be very focused on the things we do bring into the store because we just don't have a lot of space to just display things for the sake of displaying things. And that's probably been the lesson. We need to keep moving forward and we need to cut the cord if something's not working and then go and find that next thing or focus more on the things that we know work for us. That's enabled us to kind of stay relevant as well because we're always hunting, we're always searching for the new things.” Dave was great and he gave a fantastic glimpse into what they’ve done to stick around for over a decade.
