Ep. 293 (1/31/24): Special Guest: Brian Davison, Founder of Sports Business Ventures

In this special episode, Joey has the honor of being joined by Brian Davison, former Nike executive and the founder of Sports Business Ventures. Davison was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s business director for over five years and worked in the Milwaukee Bucks front office as Vice President of Basketball Development and Affairs during the 2020-2021 NBA season, which ended with the franchise’s first NBA Finals ring. Today, Davison is a board trustee member at his alma mater: Brevard College, and in the past year, he founded his own business, Sports Business Ventures. They discuss his time at Nike, where he started out as a lead retail manager, before climbing the ladder into product creation and signing Antetokounmpo’s deal with Nike. Davison opens up about his days playing college basketball at UNC Asheville and Brevard College. He mentions how great of an experience it was to be a part of 2003’s March Madness tournament. Following that, they dive into his decision to start his own company (Sports Business Ventures) and what great opportunities it offers. Davison gives advice to people looking to jump into the sports industry and expands on his journey that began with him coaching at Brevard College while working two other jobs.
