The conversation turns to the cost of building anything meaningful. A business, a marriage, a family. And how knowing the cost upfront might stop you from ever starting. Then things get interesting. They wrestle with a deceptively simple question. How are you supposed to live? They explore the paradox that we take credit when things go well but blame circumstances when they do not. They dig into the illusion of self-knowledge, comparing our sense of self to knowing a celebrity. Familiar but ultimately opaque. The episode builds toward the idea that we need an external reference point to understand who we are. And that the Christian answer to that need is found in the image of God, revealed most clearly on the cross.
