EP 294: A Mindful Parent Is Compassionately Curious (And Psychologists All Say This Is A Good Thing)
from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns
Mindful parenting is based on connection and attachment between the parent and the child(ren). And this connection comes through a degree of presence, acceptance, and compassion. When I say acceptance, I don’t mean that you’re not going to get your children to clean their rooms, or eat their vegetables, or go to bed at a reasonable hour. When I say accept these behaviors in your children, I mean that you allow yourself to see past the behavior itself and maintain a deeper emotional attachment in spite of the fear you feel. When you do this, you’ll find that the behavior starts to change on its own.
