Here are a couple of facts: He's dean of Weill Medical College of Cornell University Previous to that he was chairman of the department of Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine where he collaborated extensively with the world-renowned cardiac surgeon and innovator Michael DeBakey He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University His main research focus is in lipids, he's authored several landmark trials in this field including the seminal AFCAPS/TexCAPS study He was the National President of the American Heart Association and President of the International Arterosclerosis Society He's a member of the Institute of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences He has received many honors and has published several books.
