EP 3 | Caring isn't the Same Thing as Carrying
from DECODE/DISRUPT · host Nicolette/ Gabbi
Caring is a stance. Carrying is workload. They feel identical from the inside, which is how people end up exhaustes by relatioships they'd describe as good. The tell is where the weight sits. Caring leaves the other person holding their own outcome - you're present for it, you're not responsible for it. Carrying quietly transfers the load onto you: their decision becomes your management problem, their mood becomes your job, and when it goes badly you take the hit for a life you don't live. Nobody asks for this, it gets volunteered, usually by someone who learned early that being needed was safer than being known. Decode/ Disrupt works the gap between knowing this and living it. Nicolette reads the design underneath the flex. Gabbi goes at the pattern that keeps the load transferring. Decode/ Disrupt goes live Sundays on Substack, where insight meets interruption.
