Monica Herrera Damashek is the US Latin Music Lead at Spotify, the world's largest music streaming subscription service. In this role, she oversees partnerships and drives marketing campaigns with Latin music artists, labels and distributors in the US. She has worked at Spotify for nearly six years and previously held the role of Global Director of Strategic Marketing. Prior to joining Spotify, Monica spent eight years in journalism, with expertise across content formats and music genres and always finding ways to connect Latin culture to her work. At Rolling Stone, she led the website's newsroom team and helped launch the magazine's first Latin music package featuring bilingual content. As News Editor at Billboard, she interviewed hundreds of artists on and off-camera, wrote business and general features for the magazine and edited single reviews. She has also held editorial roles at Latina Magazine and Myspace and began her career as a publicist at Susan Blond, Inc. Originally from New Jersey with Cuban and Costa Rican roots, Monica lives in Brooklyn with her family and is passionate about raising her son bilingual.
