Ep. 3: "Viral"
from Prismatic: An Audio Series Hosted by Prismatic: An Audio Series
We were gone for a second but we're back with the jump off. Josh, Tsige and Will discuss the X-Men franchise and the newest movie X-Men: Apocalypse and how Storm isn't given her 10s. Will praises Dirty Chai Tea. Tsige gives us a piece of Ethiopia. We then consider what it's like to exist in the digital space. What are our personal rules for survival? Tsige got the chance to sit with Visual Artist Riya Jama in a frank discussion of her viral video, her life, and using art as a weapon against the oppressor. Will produced a piece about Kadin Herring, a New School Student in New York City, who is being denied access to his transcripts because of menial financial holds. He talks about #FreeKadin, a social media protest he created to make his voice heard. Then its y’alls turn! We turn to listen to some people within the community we are building answer the following prompt: Survival tips: Is social media this generation's savior or the devil?
