Ep. 30 – Christopher & Eric’s True Crime TV Club Serves Up “The 1990’s, The Deadliest Decade: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

from DINNER PARTNERS with Christopher & Eric

Christopher and Eric continue to honor Pride Month with an installment of Christopher and Eric's True Crime TV Club that takes us back to a time when getting thrown out of the military wasn’t the worst thing gay people had to worry about. As Christopher and Eric discuss Season 1, Episode 8 of THE 1990'S, THE DEADLIEST DECADE, we meet handsome, beloved Navy radioman Allen Schindler, whose attempts to shield himself from institutionalized, systemic anti-gay harassment result in bloodshed and a mother's agonizing grief. But sometimes grief turns to activism and activism creates change. As one determined mother pursues justice for her son, we're reminded of all that's been accomplished by the LGBT community in the past two decades and how far we still have to go. (If this episode sounds different from our others, that's because it was recorded remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to be back in our usual studio space as soon as public health advisories allow.)
