Ep. 30 - Pediatric Obesity with Dr. Subhashini Subramanian

Dr. Jerry invites a special guest, Dr. Subhashini Subramanian. In this episode, they discuss pediatric obesity and how Dr. Subs treats this chronic disease. Dr. Subhashini Subramanian is a pediatric cardiologist and obesity medicine specialist located in Paramus, NJ. She is the Founder and Medical Director of the Children’s Center for Holistic Heart Health, and former Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Hackensack Meridian Health School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. She is fluent in English, Tamil, and Hindi.   Dr. Subramanian grew up in India with a pediatrician for a mother. This fueled her love for pediatrics from an early age. She earned her medical degree from the prestigious Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in 1999 and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She then served as a senior resident in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and was actively involved in teaching medical students.   She moved to the United States in 2004, where she completed her pediatric residency at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. During her residency, she was awarded a community pediatrics grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics for her work with refugee children. Dr. Subramanian also won multiple awards for teaching and evidence-based patient care. She went on to do her fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
