In September 1978 at Salisbury, Karen made history as the first female professional jockey to win a race on the flat in the UK competing against her male counterparts. She joins us to share her remarkable journey, highlighting the immense mental and physical challenges she faced in a sport dominated by men. Karen rode as an apprentice jockey for experienced trainer Bill Wightman and was based at Ower Farm, Upham near Winchester.
