EP 305: The Value of Connection (And What It Means for Compassion Practices)

from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns

I hope that through all these posts and videos I’ve been able to convince you of the value of compassion - for ourselves AND for others. So much recent research has shown the benefits of compassion on our physical, mental, and emotional well being. Stress reduction, resilience, and a sense of fulfillment are just the start of a very long list of these benefits. One really important aspect of compassion - an aspect important to developing compassion and also an important result of compassion practice - is recognizing and feeling the sense of connection we have to each other. I know this sounds very woo-woo, but it is in fact based on hard nosed neuroscience research. One amazing way to start to get a sense of this commonality we have with one another and the connection that arises, is to recognize the innate goodness that lies inside all of us, no matter how deeply it’s been buried through fear, pressures, and trauma in our lives. Please hit me up to learn more!
