Ep. 31 | Danielle’s Story: An Underground Midwife and the Importance of Educating Yourself About Birth

After Danielle found herself grieving from the cascade of interventions that led her to have a c-section, she started researching the birth world and asking herself what it was supposed to look and be like.  When she went into her first birth, just like so many other women, she was just going to go with the flow and whatever happened. Unfortunately, that mindset caused her to listen and allow things to happen that she didn't want to happen. She knew after that birth that there was something different out there even though she didn’t know what it looked like or what it meant.  She knew birth wasn't supposed to be this way! As she was researching VBAC’s (vaginal birth after cesarian) she realized the best births were from women who were having all natural births, home births, free births, and not relying on any kind of medicine or interventions.  She learned to move from putting all of her trust in her doctors to trusting her own body and intuition.  It wasn't until her fourth birth that she found an underground midwife through an unlikely source to deliver her baby in a state that doesn't allow VBAC home births.
